We have held this dispatch back for a couple of hours after hearing reports, yet again, of an attempt on the life of former president and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. (See his response above, in our main image.) Shots were fired in Mr. Trump’s vicinity at one of his Florida golf courses; some reports indicate these shots were from security agents firing on an armed man. One arrest has been made. Mr. Trump was not injured.
We’ve kept our eyes on the news for a few hours and this seems to have been a less serious incident than the one in Pennsylvania a few months ago. We are still watching this, but see no further reason to hold the dispatch back. We will simply note that we’re getting tired of these kinds of breaking news flashes. Get it together, America.
