Dispatch from the Front Line: The Houthis vs. Three Canadians
The Houthis quake at the thought of the Canadian military - aka three dudes in a trench coat. Also: the Trudeau bounce that wasn't, or least, is no longer. And the meaning of genocide, again. Sigh.
Hello, Line readers. We start with an apology for our failure to launch last week. Our plan had been to run a dispatch on Monday (success!) and then resume normal operations (failure!) We had known in advance that your Line editors would both be travelling last week, but the plan had been for them to be travelling at different times, so someone could mind the shop. But the travel chaos that whacked North America this week, particularly western Canada, with that nasty blast of winter totally cluster-borked the travel plans of a Line editor, stranding her in the wrong province, and the week sort of fell apart. But! We are now both back in our homes, so we ought to get things back to normal this week, barring any other wildcards. Sorry!
As we warned previously, there was no podcast last week, because of the travel plans (even without the storm, we wouldn't have been able to do one). But never fear. Those will start again this week. We are excited to speak with you.
And now, let's roll.
Speaking of getting things back to normal, we are starting to get our first polling in the new year, and sheesh. Both your Line editors have obviously had lots of time to comment on the polling collapse that began to afflict Justin Trudeau and his Liberals in the summer of 2023. Late in that year, a few polls suggested that maybe, just maybe, the LPC had found their bottom, and might have even begun to climb back up. It was all very uncertain, as the movements were typically within the margins of error of any given poll, but by December, it was at least possible to grant that the Liberals no longer seemed to be collapsing.
