Happy Sunday! Lots to talk about today, including how awesome our last podcast was (special thanks to Stephanie Levitz from The Globe for a quick budget update off the top).

Also, don’t miss last week’s On The Line, where Jen Gerson speaks with Jeff Collins, director of the Palmer Institute for Canadian Leadership in Charlottetown, P.E.I., about Canada’s military procurement problems, the country’s evolving national security strategy, and whether our newfound enthusiasm for getting our elbows up against the Americans makes any sense when it comes to national defence.

And now, on with the dispatch.

Last week, the federal budget was released. We are still working our way through it, and we’ll have some specific comments to make on immigration later on. (We have concerns.) But without getting into particularly granular commentary about what’s in the budget, we thought we’d offer this comment on three broad themes, which tell us something interesting about this government and its priorities.
