Dispatch from the Front Lines: We can defend ourselves, or we can't
Oh, God. We can't, can we?
Hello, people of The Line! Your co-editors are buzzin’ after having a blast at our latest event in Edmonton (though the trembling might just be dehydration in Jen’s case — more on that later). The event was a total success, and we keep learning how to make them better. This was our third in-person event, and it was probably the first where we felt like we more or less knew what we were doing. We’re going to pause over the summer but come back strong with more events in the future, so stay tuned for updates on that.
Before we get into the dispatch, let us just offer our thanks to everyone that made the event possible. First of all, our panelists: Lisa Raitt, Trevor Tombe and Chris Ragan. The Line is lucky to have friends like you and we can’t wait to see you again. You can panel with us anytime.
Also, a huge thanks to our sponsors, the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) and the Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill University, which co-hosted the event with us. And a special salute to CPAC, our broadcast partner for the event, for filming and sharing it. You can check it out here.
And at last, a special thanks to the friends of The Line who supported us: Colby Cosh for helping us secure the venue, Ken Boessenkool for helping out with transportation costs, Vida Brodie for all her help with planning and logistics, and especially that fan of ours who brought us Donut Mill donuts. We ate them for breakfast.
And, of course, to all our guests. It was a blast. We wish we had more time with you all. We’ll be back to Edmonton soon.
