Emergency Dispatch: Great, because this is just what we all needed
Erin O'Toole seems screwed, so let's have a snack and gab about it at 8:30 Eastern tonight.
We had a plan for this week, folks. We really did. A nice mix of coverage on some Canadian and foreign issues. And then this happened:
Sigh.
Okay, look. We knew this was happening. Look back at some of our recent columns and dispatches and you’ll see little hints of this sprinkled throughout. We didn’t know it was happening now, though — our best guess is that the political pressure brought about by the convoy protest in Ottawa blew the lid off the previously low-key CPC civil war that’s been raging, mostly out of view, for months.
So we’re going to talk about it. And you’re invited.
Yeah, we could write a bunch of columns and try to track the events as they unfold. And we’ll do that after things settle down some. That won’t happen for days, though, so, for now, we are going to do what we did last election night: get some drinks, get some snacks, invite some guests, and have ourselves a livestream!
Matt’s drinking beer, snack to be determined. Jen’s still mulling her drink/snack options over. We are emailing a variety of guests and firming up a roster and a schedule. We’ll be tweeting out details all day via our Twitter accounts (here for Jen and here for Matt) and retweeting those through our main Line account.
But we can tell you it all starts tonight, at or around 8:30 Eastern time. We’ll blast out the link when it’s live. Tune in, join us, message us your questions and comments, bring along a drink and a snack, and enjoy the news tsunami as it sweeps us all into a sea of … something. A sea of something. Something bad.
Again: 8:30 tonight, a YouTube livestream, with more details to come. Watch our Twitter accounts for updates, and when we are live, we will send out another email blast with the link.
