I think the casino metaphor is a bit off. In most games in a casino, gamblers may have a winning streak but the house always wins in the end. Politics is more like playing a game of Bridge (or maybe Go Fish depending on the polity we're considering.) A player's luck can make a big difference in whether they win or lose, but it also depends on how the other players play the game. If the other players aren't skilled or make mistakes, you can continue to win the game so long as your relative skill is better. Ford may not be a great player, but it seems like the opposition parties have an even more thumbless grasp of the game.

You say a "Liberal government that had been in power for 15 years and reached historic levels of unpopularity" but neglect to say the reasons for that wer the corruptness and scandals of the Liberals. It brought down the Liberals in Ontario, Chretien and will probably do the same with Ford as it should have already done with the Trudeau Liberals.

Tick, tick, tick......in light of recent comments, the idea that Doug's future, and to some extent, Ontario's lies in the hands of the RCMP is not comforting. In my completely impartial (yeah, right) opinion is already guilty, and by a wide margin, the worst Premier in Ontario history. I'm far more perturbed by what seems to be a shift in Conservative messaging something akin to the GOP......bullshit baffles brains. 6 months ago, I would have voted strategically to defeat Trudeau. Today, I'd vote strategically to stop Pierre.

Minor point... No serious voter looking critically at all parties for a reason to vote cared about the NDP sending a radical activist packing. They did themselves a favour. They need to come back towards the middle if they hope to compete. Ford is definitely lucky to have fellow morons and crooks for competition.

Tory luck continues as the Ontario Liberals will be honouring Kathleen Wynne and Dalton McGuinty at their December 2, 2023 leadership convention.

Were Maryam Monsef and Marco Mendocino unavailable?

So long as the stench of McGuinty and Wynne remains in the nostrils of Ontarians, this is a Blue province. Don’t even mention the orange communists.

I fully expect Doug to get the "Wynne treatment" in the next election...assuming he's still leader.

The thing with the coat rack in Conservative blue is he came in with extraordinarily low expectations. No one expected much from the coat rack. Personally, I was expecting something closer to his brother without the drugs or genuineness. Some seemed to be expecting something more Trumpian. The reality is that Ford at his worst is largely Ford meeting expectations for many people. That he’s shown some genuine competence and a willingness to work with a federal government that he has ever reason to just scream at for political points is way beyond what I expected he was capable of.
