Dispatch from the Front Lines: The eager pivot back to Israel hating
The latest on the war. Smith vs. Trudeau. The CBC vs. its own standards. And much more.
Welcome to your weekend, Line readers. We’ll have less housekeeping to do than we’ve had in a few weeks, but we wanted to start with a huge sigh of relief and an even bigger thank you after our first in-person event went off wonderfully in Toronto this week. We had told you all previously that if this event was a success, we’d go on a series of them and hopefully come to a town/city near you. Well, we’re going to have to live up to that, aren’t we? And though we aren’t committing to this in full yet — we’ll need to sort out the logistics — we think — we think — that our next event will be in the other Line editor’s town. Feel like coming out for an evening, Calgary?
In any case, a huge thank you to Meredith-Boessenkool and spark*advocacy, our sponsors, as well as Jennifer Mazzarolo of the Maverick Consulting Group for her sponsorship of a block of student tickets. Thanks as well to our other readers who donated tickets they could not use themselves (they’ll be hearing from us directly). To the staff at the Royal Canadian Military Institute in Toronto, a huge thank you for all your services as well, and to Vida Brodie and Emma Hopper, who organized the event behind the scenes, we literally could not have done it without you. To our panelists — Michael Paris, Derek Finkle and Chris Lewis — you guys were great.
Last but not least: to each and every person who showed up and hung out with us, we love you. Thanks for making our first event as much fun as it was.
From the happy glow of our party, we must lurch back into the real world. Check out our video this week:
It is very important for us to get on top of the algorithms that sort and recommend video and podcast content, and the best way you can help is to like and subscribe to our feeds. It’s a tiny thing you can do that makes a big difference. On YouTube, please like, share and subscribe. We are now on a variety of podcasting apps and please do the same there, too — leaving us a great review is an amazing way to help us reach new listeners. We put together a post that shows you all the places our podcasting can be found. Please check it out. It really does help.
And now, on with the dispatch.
