The same problem applies to hospitals. Contract security guards aren't up to the job of responding to violent patients, usually acting mainly to keep an eye on things and call in the police to respond to problems. I think it's time for hospitals to reintroduce the job of orderlies - people selected to assist nurses and doctors with muscle. They'd need a level of medical training, and should also be trained in applying physical restraints and use of force. However, having a class of big, strong people on hospital wards would have a couple of significant benefits: fewer nurses being injured trying to move heavy patients, and fewer nurses being assaulted by violent patients.

I think Nuit Blanche used to be called First Night?

we went to the first or second First Night in the 90s where the smallish crowd was given candles and the flame was passed from person to person. I'm sure it was meant as a good thing: communal sharing etc

but the density of people unexpectedly increased and then someone's coat licked with flames, next someone's hair. neither knew it was happening (we put them out).

I've been leery of crowds ever since.
