LIVESTREAM: The Line is proud to announce our new sovereign wealth fund
Join us live tonight! We’ll laugh! We’ll cry! Jen might get tanked again. Who knows?
Who’s ready to live stream?! Whooooo!
Matt and Jen are excited to spend some time with you tonight, the first anniversary of Mark Carney’s election win. We’ll be live from 8:00 to about 11:00 p.m. Eastern (6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mountain). Maybe later if we’re having fun.
Join us! Get some snacks! Grab a drink!
We will spend the time breaking down the major stories of the day, taking questions from our paying subscribers (only questions left BELOW THIS POST will be featured), and chatting with a few guests and friends about issues here at home and around the world.
This is the final event in our week-long fundraiser. If you’d like to make a donation, please go here. We will be shameless about reminding you during the stream.
Many thanks to Friend of The Line Phil for setting this up on the technical side and helping with moderation, and thanks to all of you who make The Line possible and supported our campaign this year.
Talk to you soon!
— Matt and Jen
P.S.: Don’t forget to donate!

Here are some possible topics/questions: 1. Ex PMJT: I concur with your position over the weekend on the meanderings and public statements of our former PM. My question: are he and Telford on the talk circuit with prior knowledge of the current PMO (and therefore have their blessing)? or, if not, can anyone get to exPMJT and tell him that he is undermining the work of his successor? does he even care? What harm is being done to the Liberal and government positions with this man out there in public? When Canadians are not travelling to the US, he does? Free-dumb.
2. Mid-terms: just as nostalgia is not a strategy, neither is ragging the puck till the mid-terms, or even the next election. I concur with you and Jen on this. Though I disagree that it will take 3 to 4 years till we get to a next normal. I think we need two presidential cycles before the US comes to its senses. But why is not cool or kosher to talk about the horrific scenario of a US civil war or the US becoming a rogue state before sanity returns? There are just too many Americans who are still doing far too well for any real change back to rational behaviour and therefore rational government to return. Can you both spend a little time discussing that which Carney (in his recent public talks) cannot admit: we are dealing with the irrational and we are still far from plumbing the depths of how bad things can/will get in the US. All to say, my question is this: how will Canada navigate/cope with/fare if the US slips into civil war?
