This week, the other The Line — one of the primary organizers of anti-mask protests around the country — was barred from Facebook, perhaps by JFK's REAL killers.
This interview made for highly entertaining reading! But is there a case to make that the anti-maskers are the tinfoil-hat wearing vanguard of an increasingly open revolt against government advice by those who aren't extremists, but reasonable people who are now rejecting seemingly contradictory dictates of various levels of government?
The numbers are in; the revolt happened at all those turkey dinner gatherings in private homes on the Thanksgiving weekend. With raised drumsticks the cry rang out: We're not gonna take it... anymore!
I think that's a big part of it. The other thing we are all getting a lesson in is what authoritarianism does to significant numbers of the population psychologically.
Another The Line article was about the Ford government's struggles to make policy and law in the time of COVID. It made reference to a famous academic debate about making laws that the population would be willing to follow or reject. Right now I am afraid that the politicians in a number of liberal democracies are putting rule of law to an extreme test that is producing bad outcomes. I don't envy their struggle due to the tradeoffs that must be made regardless of the rules created.
Ok Seriously you guys. Mask deniers and covid deniers are this year's flat earthers. I mean come on. This guy sounds like one of those puffed up self important peacocks that a person spends hours avoiding at any and every social function. I hate masks too but here I am wearing one until Hinshaw says it is clear enough to release the bylaws.
I would also like to add that this is amazing journalism. Acceding credit where it is due, acknowledging nuance and both sides of a topic (where credible). And calling bullshit on... well, bullshit. This is why my subscription is worth every penny.

Certainly.

Thank you for going there... so that we didn't have to. Good job.

Wow.
I think your link to current funders to the W.H.O is incorrect.
You're right. We put the wrong link in there by mistake. The correct one is here: https://open.who.int/2018-19/contributors/contributor
I will fix this now.
thanks!
