This was a great podcast, and with Megsit it’s a timely addition to North American podcasts. Would definitely listen again. Jen’s obsession is showing but to our benefit, thanks

It took me a couple minutes to realize that this podcast included Jen Gerson! Who knew she had this secret royal obsession. It was funny to hear the lack of f-bombs and also hear Jen hold back a bit on just how much she knows about Harry and Meghan. (I know from what I speak. I share the same hidden interest.) Interesting idea to do other content and nice to have a topic that was more light hearted than the Canadian political scene.

Really enjoyed this podcast. I have always been interested in the Royal Family but much more so since Harry and Meghan’s treachery (you can see where I stand on this!) I hope you’ll do more of these with Patricia Treble.

Excellent podcast. More talk of royals and symbols please! I too am appalled at the new Crown and Coat of Arms design. I hope the next government reverts backs to tradition.

I write to praise the idea of additional podcasts.

I started listening to this podcast but chose to give up about seven or eight minutes in: simply put, the subject of the Royals bores me to tears. That doesn't mean that you should not offer further podcasts; indeed, please continue to offer more and more (and further justify your much too cheap subscription price!). So, again, good on you for making this effort and I hope that you continue down this road; please, however, be aware that the Royals have a small audience. Put differently, whatever the size of the audience, I am not part of it.

I promise you I will keep my Royals obsession to a minimum here at The Line. JG

Your obsessions are quite okay with me. As long as I don't have to participate!

Just to channel David Dingwall, you may obsess about your obsessions.

Also to channel Dinwall, you're entitled to do so.

Ottawa was always packed when one of them showed up while I lived there. It's still big enough. I don't really care about their family dynamics or gossip but I do find their function interesting. Like it or not one of them is our head of state and it's likely to stay that way for a very long time.

I absolutely agree that the Royals vis-a-vis the functioning of our government are a fascinating subject but very much the preponderance of commentary is of the gossip variety, not the way in which our government functions with the written and unwritten roles of the Crown and the Monarch's various representatives in Canada.

As for how long that form of government will last in Canada, it seems to me that a lot depends on whether this government survives the next election. Currently everyone is writing off the Face Painter and that is quite reasonable - on the surface. If, God forbid, he manages to eke out a win, no matter how slight, I forecast renewed tension on the survival of the country and any effort to placate ANY part of the country opens up everything.

NS, I really don't want to pay more but, but, but I recognize G & G have to eat too. Currently, they are eating (no skeletons when you look at the video) but that is primarily due to a) other work that they do; and b) spouses that work and provide income for the family.

I don't want to denigrate the contribution of spouses but I would like to make The Line a bit more lucrative for them so that they can drop a bit of the other stuff and also, to be able to hire some support staff / other journalists.

So, no, I don't want to pay more but I really want The Line to flourish and for G & G to not have to work their little fingers to the bone - which might lead to unfavorable whatever!

I actually wrote (and deleted!) a lengthy comment on a different post about the 25% discount. I won't rehash it here, but it reminds me of the phone/cable companies giving deals to new clients while the long-timers get nothing. BUT it's hilarious because we are talking peanuts both for the regular price and the discount lol.

Gosh, I would LOVE to achieve the financial success of the phone companies.

And the government oversight (little) and the hatred of your customers.

First not so onerous, second, well you tell me ...

Haha. But you completely missed my point. My point is don't give discounts to try to entice new customers at the risk of pissing off the old ones. I did send the one-month trials to people, but the only person who paid for a sub after that was also from my household lol.

No no, I got your point. I just politely ignored it to make the one I wanted to make! LOL.

PS Inside I am ranting like Jen on this topic :-D

I also have considered the discount thingy but, again, I am such a fan of G & G that I am all for anything that helps them.

My sense is that Megan Markle assumed that the celebrity of the Royal Family meant they operated by the same rules as the Hollywood celebrities and influencers she wanted to be. Then she found out that no matter how hard she played the publicity game, her status as a Royal was already at its peak and was only likely to decline. As for Harry, the poor dimwit thought marrying somebody used to celebrity would insulate her against what supposedly destroyed his mother. He didn’t realize that a lot of people in show business actually have an unhealthy craving for it.

On a 1 to 10 scale of why I give a hoot in hell about what Meg or Harry have to say, I think I'm at a negative 1000. They shat in their messkit a long time ago. Why bother to give them ANY air time?

Jen doesn’t like the Sussex’s. Understood. Let’s hope that critical focus moves to the Royals that count. Start with the heir apparent. And his wife. Who barely work
